Why I picked up this book:

The blurb got to me. I also liked the cover - the colouring and the angle.

Blurb:

She likes to watch. He likes to keep hidden. Total opposites on a collision course to a relationship neither can deny.

Simone Kahan's been watching Elliott Anderson through her office window for months. He likes to bring women back to his office for late-night trysts, and Simone enjoys her voyeurism until one night, Elliott appears to go too far with his date. The other woman might not be into spanking, but Simone is, and when she meets Elliott in the elevator later that night, she makes sure he’s intrigued enough by her to ask her to go with him to the party he no longer has a date for.

Thrown together by circumstances he’d never have imagined, Elliott isn’t sure what to think about Simone. She’s nothing like the women he normally dates, but something about her draws him in until he can’t stop himself from wanting her…until their goodnight kiss becomes something harder. Harsher.  Simone responds to his rough hands as no woman ever has, and Elliott’s not ready to pursue what he’s always told himself is wrong.

My thoughts:

This is fifty pages of an erotic journey split into five parts - and I am on board!

Simone is a confident, compelling heroine. There's nothing shy or retiring about this woman. She knows what she likes - pain, voyeurism, Elliott. It was so refreshing to read this after a string of books about young women only just discovering their sexuality. Simone's confidence is very compelling - there's something about her that drew me in.

Elliott, on the other hand, has no problem picking women up, but he's struggling with what *he likes*, and that's to get rough. He's also got a 'type' and it's the opposite of the intriguing, little, pixie-cut brunette who he runs into late one night....

There's a lot packed into a short portion here - it's sexy without really giving us a full encounter, and maybe that's why I want more. Not quite a tease, but instead a promise of what will come?

Normally I dislike serialized erotica. For me, it rarely works because the cliffhanger ending or raised stakes ending that's often used in serialized works to draw the reader back, doesn't often work in this genre. This part was very successful - I didn't feel cheated by it but I was definitely left wanting more.

My only real problem here is the financial investment to keep the story - the portions aren't large, though they're satisfying. All together, it costs about what a full length novel would cost, but I'm not used to paying that for an ebook - so... a mooment of hesitation on my part.

Bottom line:

This is a very sexy, compelling start to an erotic story. Plenty of promise, a little tease perhaps, and some delightfully kinky scenarios. If you're comfortable with the eserial format (and, you know, erotica), I'm happy to recommend this one!

4.5 stars

  1. I'm glad that you enjoyed the book despite the price point. I almost prefer to pay for series like this one in one fell swoop instead of paying $0.99 here and there.
