Why I picked up this book:

I like the live-in nanny falls for employer trope. *shrugs*

Blurb:

LOVE IS A DEAL BREAKER . . .

Millionaire ad executive Landon Downey has a policy: no romantic relationships allowed. So when he's saddled with his six-year-old nephew for a week, he doesn't think twice about asking Kimber Reynolds to act as live-in nanny. What he doesn't expect is the undeniable attraction to the woman he hasn't seen since they were kids. And not only does she like him back-she suggests they work their way down a list of extracurricular activities in the bedroom. How can he resist?

Kimber wants to prove once and for all that she can love 'em and leave 'em with the best of them. All she has to do is keep her sixteen-year crush on Landon out of the equation. No problem . . . until she realizes she may not be the only one whose heart has gotten completely tangled up in their no-strings agreement.

My thoughts:

This book delivered on all of my expectations. It was a sunny, quick read with a light contemporary romance.

Kimber is an independent, quick-to-love woman who is grasping at straws to figure out her future. Landon is a self-made millionaire who likes to maintain order in his life by planning everything - and then executing those plans. He's not looking for love or a real relationship, and she's trying to break her usual patterns.

On top of the nanny-employer trope, we also have the friend-of-sister thing going on here - a double whammy!  I loved the way that the gossip grapevine worked in this book - true to life, and pretty amusing, I thought. I like that these two aren't in denial about their attraction to each other.

There's enough heat in the sex scenes to satisfy, and when I finished the book, I had a smile on my face. There's something charming about the way these two relate to each other. I liked that Landon constantly found Kimber adorable in addition to sexy and desirable. For me, that emphasized the emotional connection.

Ultimately, The Millionaire Affair was exactly the kind of read I wanted when I picked it up. There's nothing too deep here, no dark corners to explore. Instead, this is candy bar fiction - quickly devoured and sweet but certainly not meaty. It satisfied my craving for something that would make me smile.

I'm not compelled to go back and read the previous stories, but I might return for later books in the series.

Bottom line:

If you're looking for a quick, happy read, this is it. This is the kind of romance you can grab near the cash registers at drug stores and walmarts. It's  dispoable, candy bar fiction at it's finest - don't expect anything life-altering. Instead, read it for the romance, read it for the positive feelings. Sometimes, I need to know that I'm getting a happy ending - and this one's was very satisfying.
